pen Ecanus•net :: Poems

So here we are, Fallen Angel's poetry page. I thought about arranging them by subject, then I thought about arranging them by date, and then it all started getting rather complicated, so I decided instead just to stick with a plain and simple A to Z by title. Want to see all the poems with titles beginning with C? Just click the 'C' and as if by magic the poems shall appear! Them squirrels that run this place ain't half speedy!

This is my assorted collection of poems spanning the years. These cover many times, places and feelings. Some have details of where I was when I wrote them, what I was doing, and what inspired them. With others, it's so long ago now I've no idea where they came from, only that I liked them enough to keep them around.

Some were written as 'me', some for other people, and some while I was trying to get "into character" for whatever I happened to be writing at the time – the weird ones, I'm claiming insanity grounds on. ;–)

Castles in the sand

We know they are not forever,
but still we are sad to see them fall.
The sea sweeps in smoothing sand in it's wake,
and it's though they have never been there at all.

They are castles of sweet memories,
of a past we cannot let go,
Of childhood dreams and worlds outside our own,
where imagination creates the foe.

In childhood life is simple,
pure black and white without shades of grey,
They're a reminder of freedom and innocence,
that we lost somewhere along the way

Castles of intricacy and fragility,
with crenelations of soft sand,
Topped with lollipop sticks and flags fluttering in the breeze,
but the force of the sea they can't withstand

Battlements, their moats can't protect,
with the might of the waves they all crumble.
The swell washes in scouring all before flat,
against the ocean all is humble.

We know they are not forever,
but still we are sad to see them fall.
But for though their grandeur is fleeting,
for a time our imaginations they enthral.

Cyber–guy

You are just a shadow,
one grainy image is all I have of you.
Yet still you transfix me,
driving sensible thoughts from my mind,
and filling my head with what might have been,
What could be
if only...
How do you do it?
What powers do you hold?
For now I care not
That grainy image is in my head and itís going nowhere right now.
